Deoxys-Speed Trio Guide

Overview

Deoxys-Speed arrives in EX Raids, replacing Deoxys-Defense. Unlike Deoxys-Defense, who was the tankiest Raid Boss in the game by a fairly significant margin, Deoxys-Speed is an easy trio.

The Deoxys-Speed duo is possible, but it requires either Fog or a team of Legacy Gengars. Since Fog is nonexistent and Legacy Gengars are unobtainable outside of trading, this guide will focus on the trio instead.

Swift
  • Zen Headbutt hits Gengar and Giratina-O harder than Charge Beam, but Charge Beam will hit Tyranitar and the rest of the Dark-type squad harder than Zen Headbutt.
  • If you're using primarily Tyranitar, other Dark-types, or Shadow Ball Mewtwo, Thunderbolt will be the hardest-hitting Charge Move to go against.
  • If you're using primarily Gengar and Giratina-O, Psycho Boost will hit the hardest. Gengar in particular will benefit greatly from dodging Psycho Boost.
  • Swift is the easiest Charge Move to go against by far. If you're looking to duo Deoxys-Speed, you're looking to go against Charge Beam/Swift.

Weather
  • Fog boosts the power of your Dark- and Ghost-type attackers. Under Fog, Deoxys-Speed can be duoed with Gengar and Giratina-O. Unfortunately, Fog in-game is extremely rare.
  • Wind boosts the power of Deoxys' Psychic-type attacks. If you can't dodge consistently, Gengar's performance will suffer greatly against Windy-boosted Psycho Boost sets.
  • Rain boosts the power of Deoxys' Electric-type attacks, as well as the power of your own Bug-type attackers. While the Big 3 Bug-types could already trio without Weather, Rain boosts them to top-tier levels of performance, just behind Gengar and Giratina-O.

Viable Counters

Minimum viable levels assume Best Friends, No Weather.

Note: All calculations assume regular Tier 5 HP, and not the boosted "Tier 6" HP that Mewtwo received in 2018.

Italics indicate a Legacy move.

Dark-types are naturally stronger against Psycho Boost due to their Immunity-tier resistance to Psychic. If you're using Gengar, dodging Psycho Boosts is highly advised.

Use Dark- or Ghost-types. Giratina-O is by far the best overall counter to Thunderbolt variants of Deoxys, thanks to its secondary Dragon-typing.
